About  Author

When Sharon Vanek (now Schmidt) was 8 years old, she asked the question, “What would happen if a child lost a tooth on Christmas Eve?” Her mom, Karen Vanek, used the query as an opportunity to work together to create a children’s story. Sharon is now a mother, and her daughter recently lost her first tooth!

Karen Vanek, a retired educator, loves to problem solve and create. She especially loves words and learning about new cultures and people. A priority for Karen is her role as a mother and grandmother. She loves stimulating the thinking of her children and challenging them to problem solve and create.

Karen's former 3rd grade ESL student, Julio Mercado got in touch with Karen to visit just when she was choosing an illustrator, and he volunteered for the job.

My Thoughts

Amanda wiggles her loose tooth as she  listened to her mother read The Twas The Night Before Christmas. All of a sudden the tooth came loose into her hand.  She was so surprised and began to worry that since it was Christmas Eve Santa and the Tooth Fairy would come at the same time. She talked to her mother about her concerns.  Would one of them not come?  Had Santa and the Tooth Fairy ever meet?  Her mother tried to calm her and suggest she go ahead and put the tooth under her pillow.  As Amanda put the tooth under her pillow she made a wish that Santa and the Tooth Fairy would get to meet each other.
What do you think Santa and the Tooth Fair will do if they meet?  What would they talk about?  I think it would be wonderful to witness such an astounding event.

The authors and illustrator have come together and created a story with several lesson to learn.  The one lesson is a fun one.  When you loose a tooth in the very front your tongue can play peek-a-boo through the gap in your teeth.  Another is making new friends and the gift of giving.  Then an important one is to take care of your teeth it is good for your overall health.

I highly recommend this book.

I rated this book 4 out of 5
