Jaimie Hope was born on November 3, 1976 in New York.
It wasn't until high school that she decided she wanted to be a writer. This is when the ideas for the Adventures of Baby Jaimie started forming. This was also around the time she joined the newspaper staff. According to the author she was part of the staff for two years and really enjoyed it. Because the students weren't given assignments and were allowed to write on any topic on their minds. This gave Ms. Hope her first experience in freelance writing. In 2003, she moved to Florida, where she was not only an active volunteer at the local library, but also in the historical society.
During this time she also sang on a few demos at the local studio, wrote her first song, and ran a book club. It wasn't until 2005, when she picked up The Adventures of Baby Jaimie and started working in earnest to get it done. It only took a month to finish the text of my manuscript. After several rejection The Adventures of Baby Jaimie was again shelved.
She didn't pick up the manuscript again until 2006. Ms Hope had moved back to New York and had lunch with a friend in the summer of 2006 who told her about a friend of hers who was a self published author. Ms. Hope contacted with him, and got advice on how to go about making her dreams of becoming a published author come true, and in November of 2006, AuthorHouse released The Adventures of Baby Jaimie.
After the release, Ms. Hope got busy trying to promote it, and as they say, life happened. Next she decided to try her hand at writing a novel. This proved to be a slow process as well, but not as slow as the first book.
In July of 2008, PublishAmerica released her first novel, Who Says You Can’t Go Home. In June of 2010, Jaimie Hope became a two time PublishAmerica author with the release of her second novel, Bless the Broken Road. Her second children's book, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Goes to School also available courtesy of CreateSpace in the same year. In 2011 three more books were published. An Autobiography, Roll with it, courtesy of PublishAmerica, and two direct to Kindle E-Books. The first one is the third installment of the Baby Jaimie series entitled, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Gets Stage Fright, and the other is my first Paranormal Romance, When You Come Back to Me Again. Both e-books are now available in book format courtesy of CreateSpace.
In April of 2012 the author used CreateSpace and Kindle Direct Publishing once again to release her fourth volume in The Adventures of Baby Jaimie series, Baby Jaimie Has a Crush. A sixth volume in the children's book series, Baby Jaimie Goes to the Hospital as well as the third volume in the Who Says You Can't Go Home? seires, Somebody Must Be Praying For Me are both currently slated for release in the Fall of 2012

Synopsis: From the minute she met him everyone thought Baby Jaimie's first crush was Derek. Derek even thought so. That's why he asked her first grade teacher, Mrs. Smith if he could come visit her. The day of the visit didn't go as planned. While Derek was introducing himself a new student, Jack, entered the room and stole everyone's attention. Especially Baby Jaimie's. For that reason Derek took an instant disliking to the new kid. Baby Jaimie is forced to choose between Derek and Jack and she doesn't know what to do. Is there a way to combine old friends with new friends? Can't they all just get along? Find out in The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Has A Crush.
Author Notes: Although I generally try to write this series based on my own personal experiences this was not the case with this story. This particular episode never actual happened, but the characters in it were inspired by real people I have known.
Title: This title may be somewhat misleading. While Baby Jaimie likes both boys in the story, she doesn't exactly have a crush on any of them. This story is more about joining old friends and new friends together.
My Review:
Baby Jamie was so excited to have her friend Derek visit her class as part of her Show and Tell. Baby Jaimie has a crush on Derek.
Before Derek has the chance to show off how he pops a wheelie in his wheel chair they are interrupted as a new student, Jack is introduced to the class. Right away Jaimie notices that Jack has braces on his legs and that he is acting very shy. In the meantime Derek notices how much attention Jaimie is paying to the new student. He starts pouting and becomes jealous of her new friend.
When Jaimie returns to school the next day both of the boys are about to throw punches at each other. What is going on? Isn't she allowed to have more than one friend?
This is a very sweet story. Made me remember the old saying "two's company and three's a crowd".
The author was able to take a realistic situation and share that situation with others through Baby Jaimie. A great lesson learned by Jaimie and her friends.
The illustrations were outstanding of the characters and the cool way it was colored in with crayon. I thought this was very unique for a published book and believe it will attract the attention of other children. I use to love to color when I was a child. Yes, I can remember back that far.
I recommend this book.
