Easter Craft Idea Pastels for the Easter Basket

I posted this earlier this month.  I thought I would share it again for a great Easter Craft.  Just change the colors to PASTELS and it will be a great addition to the Easter Basket or for decorations. You could add a piece of cute fabric cut with pinking shears to put over the bottle cap.  Then tie it on with a pastel colored ribbon. Just use your imagination in changing it up for this special occasion.  I know around Easter they have pastel colored M&M's.

This is just way too cute!

Some sparkles were added in just the right places. The cupcake is approximately 2” in diameter and 2 ½” high, and like all of my carvings each one is initialed by me on the bottom. You can display your cute little cupcake anywhere! I bet it would look great on your kitchen window sill or shelf! Also makes the perfect birthday gift for everyone on your list! Hand crafted gifts hold a great deal of sentimental value and are sure to become family heirlooms.

This cute couple was carefully hand carved from 2 blocks of basswood, then painted with a light wash coat of non-toxic acrylic stain. Each bird was then finished with 3 coats of non-toxic polyurethane spray sealer. Each one is approximately 3” long x 2” wide x 2” high, and like all of my carvings they are initialed by me on the bottom. They can be displayed most anywhere, and make a unique wedding cake topper! My daughter is actually using these two on her cake! How about as a fabulous engagement gift! Hand crafted gifts hold a great deal of sentimental value and are sure to become family heirlooms. Each piece is different as every carving is done individually. A wonderful addition to your decorations for your home or office! Also makes a lovely Valentine's Day gift!

These Love Birds are custom carved so you can pick whatever color you like. They can also be custom engraved on the bottom with your initials or name and date. Just message me with your specifications when you order. Because they are custom made please allow at least 2 – 3 weeks for delivery.

Host Swap - Amanda at School House Scraps

Hi there! I am Amanda, creator of School House Scraps!
I am a newly married, school teacher, crafting lover, thrift store hunter,
scrapbooking fool, and I needed a place to release it all!
Thus, School House Scraps was created!
I love sharing my DIY Ideas with friends and this was the best platform for it!
I have only been blogging for a few weeks, and am finding out how
VERY addicting and exciting it is!

I hope you have time to pop on over and check it out!
If you like it, please join in on the fun by following!

Right now I am doing a "14 Days of Valentines" series.
This is one of the MANY Valentine related crafts you will find!
Enjoy!

Zipper Flowers

The other day, one of my lovely co-teachers brought me a
grocery bag FULL of zippers!
Yes, zippers, and I have been pondering what to do with them.
She sent me the idea of making them into flowers,
so here is my go at it!

I figured they fit into the Valentine's theme because they can be added to ANYTHING!
You could make a bouquet of them, pin them on a sweater,
a picture frame, a necklace, whatever you want!
So....here it goes!

You need:
Zipper (18in'' - 24'')
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Felt Scraps
Ruler

FIrst, cut the bottom stop of the zipper and pull the zipper off.
Now you should have two separate pieces of zipper.

Measure how long your zipper is, and divide it by 6.
It will be between 3-4, so cut one piece of the zipper into six
smaller pieces at this size to make the large petals.
(My 24 inch zipper made six, 4 inch pieces)
Now, take the other piece of zipper tape and cut it into 6 pieces
one inch smaller than the other pieces.
(6, 3 inch pieces)
You will also have an extra 6 inch piece left over,
this will become the center of the flower.

Now, glue the zipper pieces into petals.
Put a dab of hot glue on one end of the petal.
Twist the other end around ant squish together.
(Note: Don't put too much glue on here,
it will make the flower chunky later!)
Repeat this for all 12 petals.
Next, cut a 2 inch circle out of felt.
Glue two of the larger petals down so the raw edges touch,
 to your piece of felt.
Squish the glue flat.

Add two more, then the final two large petals.
Then, add the smaller petals, staggering them between the larger petals.

Now you need to make your flower center.
Use the 6 inch piece and fold under the toothless edge.
Glue it down so there is no fraying when finished.

Then, roll your flower center, tightly at first, loosening as you go.
Hot glue the end down so it will stay.

Now, add your center to the flower.
Use just a LITTLE hot glue, otherwise it gets too bulky.
Push it down hard, this gives the flower some better shape.
Trim the felt on the back and there you go!

You can add a pin, glue it to a head band, picture frame,
or whatever you want!
Happy Crafting!
