Twin Penny

My Thoughts

It is a special day for the twins Peyton and Penny. It is their Birthday and their parents have a surprise birthday party planned for them at the Pet Pal Emporium. Several of their friends have been invited to share this special day with them. They will get to meet Mr. Chapman and many of the Pet Pals at the Emporium.

They will learn about their good traits and how these traits are gifts from God. This is in part of the 5 Love Languages. They will be paired up with a special pal pet.

This is an excellent book for parents and children to enjoy reading together. The parents can ask the child questions and interact with the child while reading the book and doing fun activities on on every page.

5+ Stars

Out and About at the Zoo is such a fun book.  I can't wait to read the rhymes in this story to my grandbabies.  I know I will be sending them their own copy of this book to read and soak up the colorful pages.

The illustrations are so cute and will definitely grab the child's attention to the bright colors and the zoo animals they are visiting in this darling book.

Here is one of my favorite pages, it teaches the child about the description of the animal and teaches colors in fun rhyming words.

 "Zebras with stripes
of black and white
trotted over, much to my delight."

(An armed guard nearby followed her step by step for the remainder of her time at that location.)
  • Sandy’s Most Embarrassing Moment? When in the third grade, the bottom of her skirt caught on the top of the slide. As she descended the slide, her skirt ripped all the way down and left her with a waistband and only three inches of skirt. The boys came like magnets. She wore her friend’s long coat the rest of the day.

My Thoughts:

The birth of Little Kicker was a very special day for his parents.  They wanted to invite all their friends to come and say a prayer for Little Kicker to celebrate this special occasion.

All of their friends on the farm came to offer a prayer for Little Kicker to keep him safe and for him to know God and serve God in an assume way.

The author has not only written a precious rhyming story, she has added special facts and activities pertaining to the farm and many of God's creatures. It's colorfully written and illustrated in a way that will pull the child's imagination into this darling story about Little Kicker and of him being lifted up to God in prayer by family and friends.

I highly recommend this book.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5.

My Changing Blog Design

Hello Readers,

I want to apologize for the constant changes in my blog design.

I really liked the design I just removed but it would not allow the post dates or to share the post.  So I just went with a generic blog background and the problem is now cleared up.

Now I would like to find a cute header for my blog.  I have hunted with no luck.  I want it to be able to appeal to parents, boys, girls, young adults, tweens, teens and children that visit this blog.  It would be nice if it was books/reading related.

Here is one I am considering.
Blog Header - Custom Name, Blog Title and Tag Line - Teacher Classroom Design - Little Monster

If you have any suggestions for a header please leave a comment with a link if possible.

Have A Blessed Day,
Patricia aka Mamaw

My Most Viewed Post - Recycled Blue Jeans Sewing Machine Cover

of all times. Wanted to share this with
my friends and readers.

I am proud to say that in May 2011 my blue jean sewing machine cover was featured on Jill's Jembellish blog. I am very excited about this.
I use the pockets and belt looks for my scissors, seam ripper, and other sewing accessories I might need to start a sewing project.

I have lot of recycled jean fabric. I'd like to make a skirt with the jean top and calico or other print fabric for the skirt. If I get it done this weekend I will attach it to this post. I also have a lot of quilt squares cut out to make a Texas Longhorn Stadium Rag Quilt. But I found out that since the fabric is licensed I would not be able to sell it I can give it as a gift but I can't sell it.

My Thoughts:

Letty and Carlos Thompson are twins and they are on a great adventure in Las Vegas. Their father is giving them a tour of Las Vegas when they run into a childhood friend of their father's.  He invites them to visit and tour the hotel New York New York where he is an executive and a very successful business man.

Carlos is very impressed with Mr. Wilson's station in life and wanted to know how he got such an important job.  Mr. Wilson was more than happy to share with the twins about how important it is to go to college and get a good education.  He emphasizes good grades, persistence, self-discipline and honor.  Mr. Wilson is a perfect example of an amazing role model/mentor.

He had a couple of very special surprises for the twins that they would probably remember for the rest of their lives.  You will need to read the book to find all about their surprises. Plus they couldn't wait to share with their classmates all about Mr. Wilson and the things they saw and did while they were in Las Vegas at New York New York.

This was a fun book and it encourages a child to a better future.  It also teaches the importance of a good education and the need for role models/mentors.  This series is a must for all cultures of children.  Parents, teachers, librarians and anyone else that could have an influence on a child it is important for you to read this book with the children and discuss the book and encourage them to ask questions.  The website has other books in this series and important information that you might find helpful.

I highly recommend this book.

Spotlight on Dylan at PraiseJesusLord on Etsy

"Teach them well and let them lead the way"

About Dylan and PraiseJesusLord on Etsy

I started making rosaries and christian items and sold them to my friends in high school and at church to save money for a mission trip to Pwoje Espwa orphanage in Haiti. That trip was two years ago in August 2010 - I was 16. I decided to return to Haiti in January 2011 and again sold rosaries at church and at my school. I also brought down with me 500 rosaries (250 of my own). I have gone to Tijuana, Mexico on mission trips and have also sold the rosaries to fund those trips. Now, as an 18 year old, I just spent a month in Haiti from July to August traveling to orphanages and different organizations leading praise and worship music, praying, building, and serving the poor. I have taught many orphans and people in Haiti to make the rosaries and have led many rosary prayer sessions with them. I have recently put up the rosaries on Etsy as well as some other shirts that I make. Please help support this mission!

Disneynature’s CHIMPANZEE Now Available in Blu-ray Combo Pack! {Giveaway}

I am blogging about a giveaway over at MY FOUR MONKEYS BLOG .
Disney had a slew of fantastic Blu-ray and DVD releases hit shelves this past Tuesday, August 21st! I’ll be telling you about some more of them later today, but if you don’t buy any other Blu-rays or DVDs this month, you don’t want to miss DisneyNature’s CHIMPANZEE Blu-ray Combo Pack!!
From Disneynature, the studio that brought you “Earth,” “Oceans,” and “African Cats,” comes “Chimpanzee” — a remarkable story of individual triumph and family bonds. Journey deep into the African forest and meet Oscar, an adorable young chimp with an entertaining approach to life. The world is a playground for little Oscar and his fellow young chimps who love creating mayhem. His playful curiosity and zest for discovery showcase the intelligence and ingenuity of some of the most extraordinary personalities in the animal kingdom. Stunning hi-definition images bring you up close and personal as Oscar and his family navigate the complex territory of the forest. It’s an inspiring and life-changing adventure that overflows with courage and charm. And it will capture your heart. We got the chance to check this combo pack out and it is AMAZING! The imagery, the story, the family-friendliness…. it’s all a pure joy to experience! Let’s talk about the story line first. We have several Disneynature films including Oceans, and African Cats. What I love about Disneynature is that they don’t sugar coat the reality of the wild, the death, the adventure, the harshness. BUT, they do it in a way that is not scary for kids. It might be a bit sad, but they weave their stories of the wild in a way that educates and entertains without traumatizing. In CHIMPANZEE, Oscar, the main character, is full of life and mischievousness, but when his mother is killed, a very surprising character adopts him. There are many moments that brought forth laughter from our family, moments that kept us at the edge of our seats, and moments that brought a few tears. After the film was over, the kids were already begging to watch it again!
The imagery is beyond words on the Blu-ray. There are also short bits in between scenes that feature time elapsed photography sped up, and allows you to watch plants grow or ants run in line, spotlighting the amazing life that happens in a the rainforest. The colors are crisp and vivid, with the details seemingly popping right off the screen. Tim Allen is the narrator for CHIMPANZEE and he does a fantastic job, adding humorous flecks in his voice at just the right times. The music is also very catchy and fun. CHIMPANZEE runs for about 78 minutes, just the right amount of time for a family movie.
The CHIMPANZEE Blu-ray Combo Pack (retailing on Amazon for $22.99) features a wealth of bonus materials including an interview with Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace! Other bonus features include the fabulous ON LOCATION: THE MAKING OF “CHIMPANZEE” which features short bits about different aspects of the film’s making (definitely worth watching!), and the “Rise” music video featuring Hollywood Records recording artists McClain Sisters.
Don’t delay in getting your copy, because every copy of the film purchased until August 27, 2012, Disneynature will make a donation to JGI to protect chimpanzees today and tomorrow through the “See ‘Chimpanzee,’ Save Chimpanzees” Conservation Program! Find out more at

My Thoughts

Curious Kids Go on Vacation is a fun yet educational book for beginning readers. Also a book to read to curious children not yet reading but eager to learn. There are more pictures in this book than I care to count.  Although I just might count them later.

Read about going on a vacation by looking at the pictures and reading the words under the pictures. The same for things you might see while riding in the car, on the train, at the beach, on ferry, out camping, in the mountains, on a rainy day or at the airport. There is so much to see.

This book will be a great adventure while learning to read and recognize objects, vehicles, places and images. How about sizing things up like cars and people all kinds of things that are small, medium and large.

This is a must for all the curious children.

I highly recommend this book for children ages 2-5.

About Book

There are giants in the land.

And it has always been so as far as anyone can remember. They work side-by-side with the people, and whenever there is a job too difficult or a threat too great they are there to step in. The giants’ presence gives the townspeople a special confidence about life. But they have become much more dependant on the giants than they realize. One morning the people discover the giants have mysteriously disappeared. Fear and panic grip the town. Someone must find them and bring them back!

Thomas, a young farmer, volunteers and sets out alone on a great journey of danger and discovery. Thomas learns the true nature of giants and what it means for him and his people. Join Thomas in his timeless rite of passage and learn what it means to become something more than you have been, why it is necessary in life, and how to do it.

My Thoughts

Thomas awakens to a new day not expecting the chaos that awaits outside his house and all over the township. He readies himself for another day of work in the fields with his best friend Forestmaster.  His friend is a giant, for real, a real giant!  Forestmaster and many of the other giants have been in the township as far back as when Thomas's grandfather was a young man.   They worked right along side the people helping them to cope with life's ups and downs.

As Thomas walks outside everyone seemed frightened and confused. He finally gets someone to tell him what is going on and it seems that the giants have left the township with no evidence that they will return. How can this be, everyone depends on the giants to do the things the people are not able to do.

There was a town meeting called to discuss what was to be done to bring the giants back. Thomas becomes heavy of heart and knows he must volunteer to find the giants and ask them why they left and tell them they need  to come back with him. Two other men volunteer but when it came time to leave the men did not show up and Thomas left alone on the quest to bring the giants back.

It was going to be a danger journey and he feared leaving his wife and child alone. But his wife supported him in his decision to find the giants and ask them to come back.

Will he make it through the wilderness without harm? Will he even be able to find the giants? He has hope and faith in God that he will find the giants and get the answers to the questions he and the township need.

The author has a great story line and the outcome and answers revealed will show us how we can have more faith and hope in ourselves and always in God.

The illustrations were very life like and along with the author's writing it will stir the imagination of the reader in this land among giants.

I highly recommend this book.

I rated this book a 5 out of 5.

My Thoughts

Billy Chen thought himself to be an ordinary kid until he is forced to escape Earth with a Mars Mission Crew bound for Mars in the Venture Shuttle from NASA. The crew exists of Billy's father a particle physicist, his mom, Captain Harris an Astronaut, the Captain's young daughter Amber, Lt. Roberts, Dr. Frank and Mr. Brody. The Venture also carried a variety of farm animals and plants they would need on Mars to start a colony. There was many other supplies needed for the mission.

This book was not what I had expect at all. It is so surreal especially since NASA landed the rover Curiosity on Mars,on August 6th, 2012.

It was fun reading about gravity and how to cope with no gravity while in space. It was very humorous to hear Billy explain the ugly side of no gravity while trying to care for and clean-up after the farm animals. Can you imagine!

There was so much necessary for their flight to Mars and the explanations by the crew of Mars Mission were very informative and exciting to read as to how they built from scrap what was needed as certain situations arise.

I like the way the author  had the book written like a journal by Billy and Amber with help from Billy's mother, Mrs. Chen. In one chapter of the journal Billy described themselves as space pirates. Not gonna tell you why! You will have to read the book.

I highly recommend this book for ages 9 and up.

I gladly rate this book 5 out of 5. If I could I would give it a 10.

I received a copy of this book from the author for review. I was in no way compensated for this review. It is my own opinion.

I review for Bostick Communications.

A Member of Children Are Our Future Team on Etsy

Cubiciti is a cityscape wooden building blocks toy system that allows a child to construct a cityscape using its modular blocks. The building blocks offer a variety of shapes, colors and patterns that inspire children to create streets, parks, houses, and other buildings and bring their city to life.

Cubiciti encourages children to imagine ideal cities or emulate places they are familiar with as they create and re-create landscapes by snapping blocks into the grid of holes on the tray base. The blocks can be rotated to allow for four different alignments to accommodate surrounding block features. Once built, the city becomes a functional play area for the cars provided with the blocks. Cubiciti can grow with children by connecting more bases together to make larger and larger cities.

My name is Addy Widjaja and a proud father of a boy and a girl. I live in Palm Bay, FL with my beautiful wife, Lydia. My passion is all about cars, toy and wood. I have enjoyed creating wood crafts since I was in 5th grade. My education in architecture and industrial design gave me a great understanding in design, plan and manufacture process.

Cubiciti was created after we got inspiration from our son. He loves cars and is always looking for new settings and environments in which to play with them. His active imagination has inspired us to create a one-of-a-kind, modular, and educational media for orchestrating his car adventures.

The first Cubiciti was created for our son, and he enjoyed it so much that we want to share it with other children as well as the young at heart by creating the Cubiciti Company, LLC in the beginning of 2012.
